Project Overview
Provided full electrical engineering design for a new 31,866-square-foot addition and a 20,000-square-foot renovation to the existing Rogue Credit Union headquarters in Medford, Oregon. The project supported the organization’s continued growth, modernizing administrative spaces and infrastructure while maintaining uninterrupted operations. The scope included interior and exterior electrical systems, low-voltage infrastructure upgrades, and phased construction aligned with occupancy needs.
Role & Responsibilities
Power Distribution – Performed detailed load calculations to confirm that the new addition could be supported by the existing electrical service. Designed a new distribution section integrated into the existing switchboard to serve the addition.
Lighting Design – Designed high-efficiency LED lighting systems with code-compliant controls for interior offices, collaboration spaces, and common areas. Also provided exterior building lighting and a full parking lot lighting renovation to serve the expanded facility footprint.
Phased Construction Support – Developed construction sequencing plans and coordinated closely with the owner and contractors to maintain operations throughout the build.
Low-Voltage & IT Systems – Designed and specified a full structured cabling system upgrade to the latest Ethernet standard at the time. Oversaw new cable pulls and backbone routing throughout the new and renovated spaces.
Telecom & Utility Infrastructure – Engineered an upgrade to the facility’s telecom service entrance to meet growing data and voice demands.
Existing Conditions Documentation – Conducted field investigations to capture undocumented or poorly documented existing conditions. Created clean, buildable background drawings and scoping details to support clear pricing and execution.
Key Challenges & Solutions
🔹 Limited Existing Documentation – The renovation portion of the work was hindered by incomplete and inaccurate as-builts.
✔ Solution: Performed multiple field visits to verify site conditions and produce reliable existing conditions drawings to guide design and construction.
🔹 Maintaining Operations During Construction – The client required zero disruption to ongoing headquarters operations.
✔ Solution: Phased electrical design with targeted shutdown windows and clearly identified cutover points to minimize any impact.
🔹 Data & Telecom Growth Pressure – The credit union needed scalable systems to support internal growth and future technology upgrades.
✔ Solution: Designed a telecom entrance and structured cabling system with future flexibility in mind, ensuring capacity and performance for years to come.
Outcome & Impact
✅ Successfully delivered a fully integrated addition and renovation tied into the existing service, avoiding unnecessary utility costs.
✅ Upgraded the technology backbone and telecom infrastructure to enterprise standards.
✅ Provided a safe, modern, and well-lit environment — inside and out — with the ability to support future expansion.
